Luiz earned his PhD in Physics at MIT in 2022 under supervision of Profs. Riccardo Comin and Jing Kong. The core of his PhD work was on high-pressure optical (steady-state) spectroscopic studies of atomically-thin van der Waals materials, with a focus on Raman and photoluminescence techniques. In Mitrano’s Lab, Luiz will work on high-pressure ultrafast optical spectroscopic techniques to investigate novel quantum materials. In his spare time, Luiz likes to go to the movies, travel and hang out with friends and family.
