Luiz Gustavo Pimenta Martins

Luiz earned his PhD in Physics at MIT in 2022 under supervision of Profs. Riccardo Comin and Jing Kong. The core of his PhD work was on high-pressure optical (steady-state) spectroscopic studies of atomically-thin van der Waals materials, with a focus on Raman and photoluminescence techniques. At Mitrano’s Lab, Luiz will work on high-pressure ultrafast optical spectroscopic techniques to investigate novel quantum materials. In his spare time, Luiz likes to go to the movies, travel and hang out with friends and family.
