HQI Postdoctoral Fellow
Kwangrae Kim is a Postdoctoral Fellow interested in the dynamical control of strongly correlated systems using ultrafast light probes ranging from terahertz and mid-infrared to X-ray regimes. He received this PhD from POSTECH in 2026, where he studied emergent phenomena in correlated materials using optical spectroscopy, including symmetry breaking and its control via terahertz pulses. In the Mitrano lab, he will expand this approach by employing light across a wide range of wavelengths to explore non-equilibrium properties of quantum materials and utilize light as a dynamic control knob. Outside the lab, he enjoys watching movies and running along the Charles River.
